Pre-Olympic Bustle in London Hotel Industry
London hotelsWhen the International Olympic Committee in Singapore awarded London with the right to host the Olympic Games in 2012, the decision was greeted enthusiastically in many quarters, especially as the project was seen as a great renewal opportunity for East London.

Ahead of the Olympic Games, London hotels have the chance to enhance service levels and star ratings. The London Development Agency (LDA) is eager to boost the number of hotels in the city that have a recognised star rating.

At the moment, only a third of hotels in London are accredited, and the LDA wants to increase this figure up to 50% by 2010.
For the start, the LDA has undertaken to subsidise the cost of new quality assessments by up to £400 for each hotel over the next three years. Unrated hotels will also be able to get free one-to-one advice, self-help guides and workshops.

As Mary Reilly, chair of the LDA, pointed out, the lasting impression from our holidays is often from the place we stay in and the people we meet.

As the year 2012 is nearing, it is very important that visitors know the standard of the hotel they’re booking. Getting the majority of London hotels graded during the next few years and raising the minimum standards of London’s hotels would ensure a world-class reception. During the games, London is expecting a huge number of visitors to arrive.
