2007: the best year for the French hotel industry since 2000
In 2007, registered growth of more than 11% in turnover, while the increase in revenue per available room (RevPAR) was 9.2%, according to MKG Hospitality data.

Having improved their image, products and services, hotels in France are now enjoying the rewards of these efforts: the increase in RevPAR is the highest since 2000.  The most dynamic evolution in RevPAR was seen by 3* and 4* hotels, up 9.9% and 11.4% respectively.

The progression was slower between 2000 and 2003 for hotels in France, yet from 2004 to now, a notable progression of performance indicators from year to year can be seen.

Moreover, an analysis of 2007 shows a progression in hotel indicators was high throughout the whole course of the year.
In the first quarter, the RevPAR rose by 9.5%, continuing an upward trend which was already clear at the end of 2006.

In the beginning of the second quarter, the progression was a little slower because of the number of holidays, which usually hold back business travel. Also, the hotel industry was less active before the presidential election. However, with the Paris Air Show in June, the RevPAR again remarkably increased (+13.4%).

Despite the unpredictable weather in summer, the activity of hotels in France did not experience any negative effects. There was a considerable influx of clients from abroad during the period.  The evolution of tourist habits and the development of urban leisure tourism improved the RevPAR results for the third quarter, which grew by 9.1%.

In the last three months of the year, a record increase in RevPAR (+11.3%) was registered. The hotel industry was positively impacted by the Rugby World Cup: the RevPAR increased by a significant 14.3% in October, the highest progression throughout the year. In spite of social unrest at the end of the year, the progression of indicators was still high in November, and December was another positive month.
