I booked Hotel Moderno after extensive research on centrally located Madrid Hotels. Moderno is located literally in the very heart of Madrid - right at Puerta del Sol, the central square, from which many streets radiate. It is also only a few seconds away from the Sol subway entrance. We had a room on the top floor, facing Puerta del Sol. Our room had a huge balcony. It was quite a sight to watch hordes of people walking through the square way into the wee hours of the morning. We did not find it to be noisy, but then again we are used to city life. Overall, we had a very positive experience at the hotel. The front desk people were particularly helpful.

Always a great experience. Knowing the staff by name and be known by staff and owners, makes me feel like home. Recent renovations made rooms even more enjoyable.The new living rooms are better and more pleasant now.The hotel is in the middle of everything, from restaurants to shops, caffes, historic places, theaters, etc. Service and accomodation are for sure worth much more then we paid for.
